In-Person Behavior Services

Southland Behavior & Training offers a variety of in-person services designed to improve your pet’s behavior using training plans and behavior change strategies that are manageable for your family’s busy schedule. Training employs modern, science-based methods to get down to the root of the issue, focusing on understanding your pet and creating lasting change. All appointments include unlimited follow-up email and phone support.

In-person consultations take place in the location that the behavior occurs whenever possible. That means I meet you either in the comfort of your home or at another location of your choice within my service area. My service area includes Ashland, Bellingham, Framingham, Franklin, Grafton, Holliston, Hopedale, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Medway, Milford, Northborough, Southborough, Upton, and Westborough, MA.. Farther locations may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional travel fees may apply for consultations outside of service area. Contact me with questions about my service area or training locations.

From puppy manners to anxiety and aggression, the help you need is here.

Getting Started..

Initial Consultation

1.5 to 2 hours - $195

additional behavior plan for another pet - add up to 30 minutes, $65

At our initial meeting, I will get to know your pet and your family. We will discuss your training goals and any behavior problems that you may be experiencing.  Through this session, we will take a look at the reasons behind your dog's behavior and what factors may be contributing to your frustrations. In the last half hour, we will sit down together to come up with a training plan that works for your pet and your family going forward. I can start you on the path of change as well as leave you with management tools you can use  to see change immediately.

An initial consultation is required if your family needs help with a behavior problem, such as aggression or anxiety, or if you are looking to set up DaySchool Training (see below). If you are looking for help with basic obedience training only, feel free to schedule a coaching session without an initial consultation. However, coaching sessions do not include an individualized behavior modification plan.

Follow-Up

DaySchool Training

6 week package (12 training sessions & 3 transfers) - $1,470
12 week package (24 training sessions & 6 transfers) - $2,930

So much of training is frustrating and unsuccessful because owners try to train their dog themselves. Why not let a professional do the hard work for you?

Through DaySchool Training , I will work one-on-one with your dog on a package of cues and skills that fits within the behavior plan we develop at the initial consult. Training will take place in your home, while you're away at work or living your life.

45 to 60 minute sessions of professional training will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays for six or twelve weeks, helping your dog to pick up new skills quickly. You will receive a tracker sheet, as well as pictures and videos, documenting your dog’s progress with me.

Every other week, usually on a Friday or Saturday, we will meet together so I can shift your dog's new behaviors and knowledge on to you in an easy, hour-long transfer session, with follow-up notes and handouts included. We will also discuss any concerns and questions you may have.

To get started, schedule an initial consult:

Coaching Session

45 to 60 minutes - $95

2 sessions per week - $175 weekly

3 sessions per week - $265 weekly

Once you have your plan in place, you may want some help along the way. Coaching sessions are specifically aimed at teaching you to teach your dog. Spend 45 minutes to an hour learning how your dog learns, teaching important behaviors, and working towards your training goals. After the session, you will receive some brief notes on what we discussed, as well as handouts and links to further information as needed.

Rather than being forced to commit to a package, sessions are booked one at a time, at your convenience. We can meet only occasionally, regularly every week, or multiple times per week, so you receive exactly as much feedback and coaching as you would like while you practice new skills. Sessions may follow an initial consult to work on the plan developed during that meeting or can be used as refresher sessions after a DaySchool package. They are also great for dogs and humans that have gotten a little rusty with their training or need to learn basic obedience cues
